A comprehensive eye exam is a thorough evaluation of your vision and overall eye health that I perform to give you a complete picture of your ocular wellness. Unlike a basic vision screening, my comprehensive exam goes far beyond simply checking whether you need glasses or contacts — I assess the health of your eyes from front to back, including the cornea, lens, retina, and optic nerve.

During the exam, I will test for refractive errors (such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism), evaluate your eye coordination and depth perception, measure your intraocular pressure to screen for glaucoma, and examine the internal and external structures of your eyes for early signs of conditions like cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease.

Because many serious eye conditions develop without noticeable symptoms, a comprehensive eye exam is one of the most important steps you can take to protect your long-term vision — and I recommend it for patients of all ages, typically once a year or as we determine together based on your individual needs.

This is the most common type of exam.

Comprehensive Eye exam

A contact lens fitting is a specialized evaluation I perform in addition to a comprehensive eye exam to ensure that contact lenses are a safe and comfortable option for you. While a comprehensive exam determines your overall eye health and prescription, a contact lens exam allows me to go further — I take precise measurements of your cornea's shape and size to find the best-fitting lens for your eyes, evaluate the health of your corneal surface, and assess how well your eyes tolerate lens wear.

Whether you're a first-time wearer or looking to update an existing prescription, I'll work with you to find the right type of lens for your lifestyle, whether that's daily disposables, extended wear, toric lenses for astigmatism, or multifocal lenses. My staff will also walk you through proper insertion, removal, and care techniques to keep your eyes healthy and comfortable. Because an ill-fitting lens can cause discomfort or even damage to the eye's surface, I make it a priority to ensure every patient leaves with a fit that is both precise and personalized to their unique eyes.

A contact lens fitting can be done at the same time as a comprehensive exam.

Standard Contact Lens Fitting

Specialty contact lens fitting is a advanced area of care I provide for patients whose eyes require more than what standard soft contact lenses can offer. Whether due to irregular corneal shape, a condition like keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, or corneal scarring, or simply a need for sharper vision than traditional lenses can provide, I am trained and experienced in fitting both scleral lenses and corneal rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses to help you achieve the clearest, most comfortable vision possible.

Scleral lenses are large-diameter rigid lenses that cover entirely over the cornea and rest on the white of the eye, creating a smooth, tear-filled optical surface that corrects irregular astigmatism and provides exceptional comfort — even for patients with severe dryness or highly sensitive eyes.

Corneal RGPs, on the other hand, are smaller rigid lenses that sit directly on the cornea and offer crisp, precise vision correction with excellent durability and long-term value. The fitting process for specialty lenses is detailed and individualized — I use advanced corneal mapping technology to precisely measure the shape and curvature of your eyes, and I work closely with you through a series of fitting appointments to ensure the final lens provides the ideal combination of vision, comfort, and eye health. If you've been told in the past that you're a difficult fit or that contact lenses aren't an option for you, I encourage you to come in — specialty lenses have changed what's possible, and I'm committed to finding a solution that works for you.

This specialized fitting CANNOT be done at the same time as a comprehensive exam. We will schedule a second appointment after the comprehensive exam.

A medical eye exam is a focused evaluation I perform to diagnose, manage, and treat specific eye conditions or symptoms that go beyond routine vision care. Unlike a comprehensive eye exam, a medical eye exam is prompted by a particular concern — such as red or painful eyes, sudden changes in vision, flashes of light, floaters, eye infections, or injuries — and is typically billed to your medical insurance rather than your vision plan. During the exam, I will carefully evaluate the affected area, review your symptoms and medical history, and use specialized testing and equipment to accurately diagnose the underlying cause of your concern. I am trained to manage a wide range of ocular conditions, including conjunctivitis, dry eye disease, corneal abrasions, blepharitis, and more, and I will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan to address your needs. When necessary, I will also coordinate with other healthcare providers or refer you to a specialist to ensure you receive the most comprehensive care possible. Your eye health is deeply connected to your overall health, and I take every medical concern seriously — no symptom is too small to deserve attention.

Myopia control is a area of care I am passionate about, focused on slowing the progression of nearsightedness in children and young adults before it advances to levels that can significantly impact quality of life and long-term eye health. Myopia, or nearsightedness, is not just an inconvenience — high myopia is associated with an increased risk of serious eye conditions later in life, including retinal detachment, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, which is why early intervention is so important. During a myopia control consultation, I will evaluate your child's current prescription, assess their rate of progression, and discuss the most appropriate treatment options for their age, lifestyle, and unique eyes. I offer several evidence-based myopia control strategies, including soft multifocal contact lenses, atropine eye drops, and myopia control spectacle lenses. I will also discuss lifestyle modifications — such as increased outdoor time and reduced near work — that can play an important role in managing progression. My goal is to partner with you and your child to develop a personalized plan that preserves their vision.

Surgical Pre-Op and Post-Op

LASIK and cataract co-management is a service I am proud to offer for patients who are preparing for or recovering from refractive or cataract surgery. My role as your Optometrist is to serve as your primary point of contact before and after surgery — guiding you through the process, monitoring your healing, and making sure you achieve the best possible outcome.

In the pre-operative phase, I will perform a thorough evaluation of your eye health and vision to determine whether you are a good candidate for LASIK or cataract surgery, take precise measurements, and work closely with your surgeon to ensure they have everything they need to plan your procedure. For cataract patients, I will also help you understand your intraocular lens (IOL) options so you can make an informed decision that aligns with your lifestyle and vision goals.

In the post-operative phase, I will see you for a series of appointments to monitor your healing, manage any side effects, adjust medications as needed, and track your visual recovery. I maintain a close collaborative relationship with the surgeons I work with, so if any concerns arise during your recovery, you can trust that you are in good hands. My goal is to make the surgical experience as smooth and stress-free as possible, and to be a familiar, trusted face throughout your entire journey to clearer vision.
